윤석열 대통령도 3일(한국시간) 용산 대통령실에서 국정브리핑을 열고 “경북 포항 영일만 앞바다에서 막대한 양의 석유와 가스가 매장돼 있을 가능성이 높다는 물리탐사 결과가 나왔다”고 밝혔다.
지난해 2월 한국의 산업통상자원부가 심해평가를 맡겼다는 ACT-GEO 주소지는 휴스턴이다. 텍사스 주정부에 등록한 최근 주소지는 휴스턴이 아닌 오스틴의 한 상업건물이지만 확인결과 ACT-GEO 사무실은 없었다.
본지 취재결과 한국정부가 ‘세계적인 심해평가 전문기관’ 이라던 ACT-GEO는 직원 1명의 1인기업으로 회사 주소지는 가정집인 것으로 드러났다.
ACT-GEO는 2017년 7월 12일 설립신고를 하며 서비스 부문 내 지질 컨설턴트 비즈니스/산업 부문으로 등록했다. 회사수익 자료에 따르면 연간 수익은 2만 7,701달러에 그친다.
ACT-GEO가 주정부에 등록한 공식 명칭은 ‘Abreu Consulting and Training, LLC’ 다. 오픈 코퍼레이션에 따르면 2021년 비토르 애브루가 회사에 합류하면서 회사이름을 Abreu Consulting and Training, LLC로 변경했다. ACT-GEO는 홈페이지에 지구과학 컨설팅 및 교육 서비스를 제공하고 있으며 석유 및 가스회사 정부기관 및 대학을 대상으로 지구과학 컨설팅 및 교육을 담당한다고 소개하고 있다.
하지만 현재 홈페이지가 운영되고 있는지도 의문이다. 홈페이지에 공개된 회사 이메일은 비활성화 상태로 메일을 보낼 수 없다. 회사 전화번호로 전화해도 연결이 되지 않는다. 홈페이지 주소지는 개인주택으로 나오지만 오픈 코퍼레이션에는 오스틴 주소지로 등록됐다. 하지만 본지확인결과 해당 건물에는 ACT-GEO 사무실은 존재하지 않았다.
회사의 페이스북 역시 2022년 1월 포스팅이 마지막이다. 한국정부가 산업통상자원부가 심해평가를 맡겼다는 지난해 2월 ACT-GEO의 CEO였던 비토르 애브루는 Fluxus 라는 에너지 회사로 이직한 상태였다. 비토로 애브루는 2021년 4월 30일 ACT-GEO 사장이 된 뒤 2023년 2월 퇴사했다.
본지는 계속해서 공개된 전화번호에 연락을 취했지만 답변을 듣지 못한 상태며 오스틴 주소지에서도 해당 회사를 찾을 수 없었다.
