세계적인 프라이드 치킨 체인 KFC가 본사를 텍사스로 이전한다고 발표했다.
KFC는 18일(화) 켄터키주 루이빌에 위치한 미국본사를 텍사스 플레이노로 이전한다. 이전 대상은 본사직원 100여명을 약 6개월 이내 이전을 완료한다는 방침이다.
KFC의 본사이전 조치는 미국내 두개의 본사를 운영하는 전략의 일환이다. KFC의 모회사인 Yum Brands는 플레이노에 KFC와 자회사 피자헛의 글로벌 본사를, 캘리포니아 어바인에는 타코벨과 해빗버거 본사를 둔다는 방침이다.
um Brands는 KFC가 켄터키를 완전히 떠나는 것은 아니라면서 루이빌 사무실을 그대로 유지하면서 플래그십 매장을 건설할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
KFC의 본사 이전에 대해 전문가들은 텍사스의 기업친화적 정책이 많은 회사들의 본사이전을 이끌어내고 있다고 분석하고 있다. 실제 2023년 발표된 경제보고서에서도 미국내 본사 이전이 가장 많은 지역이 텍사스인 것으로 조사되기도 했다.
